Northeastern PA homes run old — a lot were built before 1940. That means tight, low-ceilinged basements reached by narrow turning stairs, and gas units still chimney-vented off an old masonry flue. Going to power vent or tankless usually means new venting and often a gas line upsize. We plan for that instead of discovering it halfway through.
Winter incoming water here runs 35–45°F, which cuts a tankless unit's usable flow — so we size up a tier rather than leave you with a lukewarm shower in January.
